Presented with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra
After our highly successful partnership with WASO in 2019 for Bach’s St Matthew Passion, we are joining forces again for WA’s first professional performance of Bach’s Easter classic.
JS Bach is one of the greatest composers of sacred music, and with Dr Joseph Nolan conducting WASO and a stellar cast of singers, Bach’s magnificent Easter Oratorio will take you on a divine journey, from a tomb of dark grief to the blazing light of joy.
But before we rejoice in the miracle of Easter, we set the scene with Duruflé’s exquisite Requiem for organ and chorus. Composed just after World War II, this moving work of timeless beauty is at once intimate, tranquil and profound.
“This will be the first time a Perth audience will get to hear a fully professional performance of Bach’s Easter Oratorio,” said Joseph Nolan. “We were excited about presenting this concert in 2020 and naturally disappointed when we were forced to cancel. So I’m delighted to be getting a second bite of the cherry!”
