Sara Macliver is one of Australia’s most popular and versatile artists and is one of Australia’s leading performers of Baroque repertoire.
Sara is a regular performer with all of the Symphony Australia Orchestras. She has also performed with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Musica Viva, the Australian String Quartet, West Australian Opera, Opera Queensland, Pinchgut Opera and many other ensembles. Sara has performed in the Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and New Zealand International Arts Festivals and sung internationally in Italy, New Zealand, Japan and Hong Kong. She records for ABC Classics with more than 35 CDs to her name and more recently recorded songs by Australian composer, Calvin Bowman, on the Decca label.
In the last 2 years Sara has performed with the Sydney, Queensland, Adelaide, Melbourne and West Australian Symphony Orchestras, Pinchgut Opera (performing the role of Belinda in Dido & Aeneas to critical acclaim), Melbourne Digital Concert Hall, Stradbroke Island Festival, Sanguine and Albury Festivals, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic and Freeze Frame Opera.
In 2025, Sara will be performing with Genesis Baroque both as part of their 2025 season and in a separate collaboration with the musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM). She will also be working alongside the pianists from ANAM in a concert of vocal repertoire by Mozart, Wolf, Debussy, Rebecca Clarke and Charles Ives. Sara will also appear as soloist with the Sydney Symphony
Orchestra, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Canberra Symphony Orchestra and the Australian String Quartet. In 2012 Sara was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Music from the University of Western Australia (UWA) in recognition of her services to singing. She has been a member of staff in the Conservatorium of Music at UWA Australia since 2016. Sara is a Board Member of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and Freeze Frame Opera.
